Case Study; Exhibition Boards for GE
Sometimes in business so much changes over such short timeframes that your customers and colleagues lose sight of your heritage, your reputation, their story and yours. How can design skills help you preserve a sense of belonging and continuity?

Background
In 2008 General Electric (GE) acquired a company called Vetco Gray, a company which itself had only become Vetco Gray in 2007. The company had over 30 years’ expertise in sub-sea oil and gas, staff consistently delivering the benefit of those years of expertise to their customers. GE re-branded the company, but wanted to reassure customers and colleagues alike that there would be continuity; that the heritage of the business would continue, its reputation sustained.
In-Text Design’s Involvement
GE was a client of Pressline marketing agency. Pressline knew that In-Text Design had a great eye for creating visual stories. They commissioned In-Text Design to design a time-line storyboard for GE; a permanent exhibit to site in the newly acquired company’s Reception. The aim was to show customers and colleagues alike the history of the company, how it had built its expertise, demonstrating a deep thread of continuity throughout, giving them confidence that this would continue.
In-Text Design's Solution
- Visual interpretations bringing the past into the present with the use of graphics and pictures In-Text Design created an exhibition standard storyboard whose core message could be absorbed by a passer-by in seconds, at a glance. For those with more time, exhibit provided information and imagery that told their story in reassuring depth.
"In Text Design has provided design support for over ten years. The results have consistently been of an extremely high standard'
Wendy Walmsley, Director, Pressline Marketing Solutions
